A Tradition of Compassion, A Modern Sanctuary For All

Since 1934, Stella Matutina has been a landmark of comfort, peace, and dignified support on the Lytham St Annes coast. Founded on principles of unconditional care, our heritage shapes everything we do – providing a tranquil, welcoming haven where history and modern living meet.

Our Heritage Since 1934

Originally established by the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary, Stella Matutina was created to give older adults a peaceful retreat near the sea. Over the decades, our home has grown and modernized into a fully equipped 43-bed residential facility, yet our foundational purpose remains untouched: to offer a safe, respectful, and loving environment for every resident who walks through our doors.

A Coastal Landmark

Situated on Clifton Drive overlooking the Ribble Estuary, our iconic building combines historic architectural warmth with modern accessibility.

Evolving Modern Care

While we honor our historical roots, our daily operations reflect current best practices in residential care, combining professional management, continuous staff training, and modern amenities.

Deep Local Roots

For over 90 years, we have maintained strong connections with the local community, from neighboring schools and parish groups to local civic events across the Fylde Coast.

The On-Site Chapel

A Peaceful Space for Quiet Reflection

At the heart of our home sits our beautiful on-site chapel, a tranquil space designed for stillness, contemplation, and spiritual comfort.

Regular Services

For residents who wish to practice their faith, the chapel hosts regular services, hymn singing, and visits from local clergy and Eucharistic ministers.

Quiet Sanctuary

The chapel doors remain open throughout the day for residents, family members, and visitors seeking a quiet moment of prayer, personal reflection, or silent meditation.

Community Connection

We maintain close links with the local parish, ensuring residents can stay actively connected to religious and spiritual life without needing to travel.

The "Sanctuary Promise" (Inclusivity & Freedom)

Welcoming Residents of All Faiths & Backgrounds

While we are proud of our history and our chapel, faith is never a requirement for living at Stella Matutina.

Our Promise to Families:

“We welcome residents of all religious denominations, non-religious backgrounds, and personal beliefs. Spiritual or religious participation is entirely optional. Whether a resident attends daily chapel services, practices a different faith, or simply enjoys the quiet peace of our estuary gardens, their personal choices are honored with equal warmth, dignity, and respect.”
